Whispers of the Night: A 10 P.M. Walk

Image
The night was quiet, yet alive in its own language. It was already past ten when my friend and I decided to take a walk — a simple idea that turned into something unexpectedly peaceful. The streets were dimly lit, with the faint sound of vehicles passing by, washed in the soft yellow glow of street lamps. Every step we took seemed to echo in the cool air, a gentle rhythm beneath the silence. The wind brushed against our faces, carrying the faint scent of damp earth and leaves. Somewhere in the distance, a dog barked, and crickets answered with their steady chorus. The world felt slower, softer — like it was finally taking a deep breath after a long day. We didn’t talk much at first. We didn’t need to. The night itself spoke enough — through the rustle of trees, the hum of the highway, and the silver shimmer of the moon slipping through the clouds. As we passed by houses, everything looked different in the dark. Windows glowed like little secrets, and shadows danced quietly ...

A Sweet Pansit

Image
It was Hannah’s birthday. She invited us to her house after school for a simple salo-salo—nothing fancy, just food, laughter, and good company. Of course, we all agreed to go. Who would say no to free food? After all, it doesn’t happen every day.  When we arrived at Hannah’s house, we sat around chatting, gossiping, and laughing. After a while, Hannah’s mom came in with the food: pansit, carbonara, and ice-cold Coke. The moment we saw the spread, our eyes lit up—we were ready to dig in. We grabbed our plates and were just about to serve ourselves when, suddenly, disaster struck! The leg of the table slid, and everything went tumbling down—the pansit, the carbonara, even the Coke. Before we knew it, the Coke had spilled all over the pansit, soaking it completely! For a few seconds, we all froze, staring at the mess in silence, trying to process what had just happened. Then, one by one, we burst into laughter—loud, uncontrollable laughter that even the neighbors who witne...

A Bike Ride to Bypass Road

Image
It happened in December 2022, yet the memory still feels fresh—one of those simple adventures that stick with you because of the laughter, the wind, and the people you were with. I remember Hannah asking me one late afternoon if I wanted to go to the Bypass Road with her. It was around 4 p.m. “Sure,” I said immediately. But then I asked the most important question: “What are we using to get there?” Without hesitation, she said, “We’ll just walk.” Walking?! To Bypass?! I thought she was joking—because that place is far! We both burst out laughing, and that’s when we decided to call one of our friends to see if we could borrow her bike. Luckily, she agreed and even joined us. That made four of us—four friends, one bike, and a slightly crazy plan. Our little adventure began when we went to our friend’s house to get the bike, then picked up another friend along the way. Once we were complete, we started pedaling toward the Bypass. We took the road through Brgy. San Pascual, even though we ...
